Kopari Beauty, an e-commerce beauty brand in California, has recently joined Gawad Kalinga’s mission of ending poverty for 5 million Filipino families.
The Kopari-LGU Sta. Cruz-GK Village started its construction last October 2018 and will benefit 20 families in Loay, Sta. Cruz, Davao Del Sur upon its completion this 2019. Kopari has chosen this site for the purpose of giving back to the coconut farmers who harvest coconut oil, which would then be incorporated in Kopari Beauty’s products. Gigi shares,
“Today we got to see a two-year dream come to fruition. Kopari Village is official in the Philippines, where we source our coconuts.
It consists of housing, clean drinking water, and a beautiful community. Feeling blessed to be a part of it and to share this experience with my husband and eldest son.”
It is indeed a humbling experience for the Kopari team who eagerly painted on the walls of the houses, not showing any hint of exhaustion under the scorching summer heat. After the house painting activity, they also held a turnover ceremony with their partner Waves For Water (W4W). They are happy that clean drinking water is available even before the beneficiaries move in.
After the successful and inspiring activity, Kopari pledges that the village is just the start of the long-term partnership with Gawad Kalinga. Together, we will lift more families out of poverty.
