Wines Bansa is one of many wonderful and inspiring mothers at Gawad Kalinga. Her story is one of perseverance, dedication, and commitment to her family and community.
Born in the town of Macabebe, Pampanga, Wines is the second eldest of five siblings. Her father, Wilfredo Pangilinan, worked as a carpenter, while her mother, Edna Pangilinan, took on various jobs such as laundry, ironing, manicures, and pedicures to help support the family. Growing up in a financially struggling household, Wines dreamed of working abroad as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) at the age of 20 to support her family. Today, as a new mother, she is even more determined to provide a better future for her child, Blessy Caroline Pangilinan Bansa, who was born on April 30, 2024.Living in GK Village Tacasan Purok 2, Macabebe, Pampanga, Wines is committed to providing her daughter everything she needs.
Wines' journey with Gawad Kalinga (GK) began with the Prayers of Day Foundation, which she considers a significant blessing. As a scholar, she learned valuable life skills and developed her personality through training in the church, participating in choir sessions, and attending Sunday sessions. These experiences helped her dream for her family and taught her how to interact with different people. Eventually, she became engaged in various GK missions before becoming the Area Development Officer of GK Village Tacasan. Her current role involves the challenging task of expanding GK's mission, which includes introducing GK to local government units (LGUs), barangays, schools, and other organizations to enlist their support in helping the poor.
Wines expects to face numerous challenges along her journey, including balancing her responsibilities at GK with her new role as a mother. Despite the difficulties, she has managed to create a plan to efficiently complete her work at GK while ensuring she has time for her family. Her resilience and strong faith have helped her overcome these struggles.
Motherhood has brought Wines great joy and a sense of purpose. The experience of being a new mother has been both joyful and anxiety-inducing. Wines encourages all mothers, especially new ones, to remain strong and resilient for their families, regardless of the challenges they face.
Looking ahead, Wines is excited about her journey as a mother and her continued mission with Gawad Kalinga. She has chosen to have her daughter baptized, a significant event that represents her belief that her child is a blessing from God that she will cherish for a lifetime. As she moves forward, Wines is determined to balance her responsibilities at GK with her role as a mother.
